From 26 May to 4 June 2021, NRL conducted the first Quality Management Systems (QMS) training workshop for five human health laboratories and one animal health laboratory in Cambodia, under the SEALAB project.  Titled “Reinforcing Quality Management Systems”, the objective of the training workshop was to reinforce the foundations of QMS, and introduce continuous improvement concepts, as a prelude to one-on-one mentoring sessions that will take place over the next few months.

The training workshop covered topics relating to:

-             Standards, certification and accreditation

-             Tools for QMS implementation and assessment

-             Document management and control

-             Process mapping

-             Failure Model and Effect Analysis

-             Quality Indicators

-             PDCA cycle

NRL would like to thank the following partners and collaborators for making the training workshop a success:

(i)           The Bureau of Medical Laboratory Services (BMLS) at the Ministry of Health, Cambodia and the Directorate of Animal Health and Production (GDAHP) for their support and endorsement of the training;

(ii)          The Merieux Foundation for organising and coordinating the training administration and logistics;

(iii)         The Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade funding this training workshop; and
