August 2016: Dengue and JEV EQAS Training in Vietnam

Between 15 and 19 August 2016, NRL (represented by Marlene Tschaepe) returned to the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) in Hanoi, Vietnam, to conduct a training workshop for a pilot serology EQAS for Dengue and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) Virus.

Thirteen participants from NIHE, two participants from the Institute Pasteur in Ho Chi Minh City (PI-HCMC) and four observers attended the 5 day programme.

During the training workshop, NRL provided staff at NIHE with hands-on support throughout the planning and production of two serology panels for distribution to the Northern Provincial Preventive Medicine Centres (PPMC) in Vietnam (8 PPMCs received panels for Dengue and 7 PPMCs received panels for JE Virus).  NRL would like to thank the staff of NIHE and PI-HCMC for their hard work during the training workshop. NRL would also like to thank the World Health Organization Vietnam Country Office for their support of laboratory strengthening activities in Vietnam.
