October 2015: Training in Vietnam
Between 5 and 16 October 2015, Marlene Tschaepe and Susie Braniff conducted a training workshop on the provision of a national External Quality Assessment Schemes (EQAS) at the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology (NIHE) in Hanoi. Twelve participants from NIHE, two participants from the Institut Pasteur in Ho Chi Minh City (PI-HCMC) and four observers attended the two week programme.
The training workshop covered the management aspects of organising and coordinating a national EQAS as well as the technical components of production and quality control of sample panels for serology and molecular analytes. During the 10-day program participants developed draft documentation for a pilot national EQAS and gained experience in data analysis and report preparation. It is anticipated that NRL will mentor NIHE and PI-HCMC through the delivery of a pilot national EQAS in 2016.
NRL would like to thank staff of NIHE and PI-HCMC for their hard work during the training workshop.
NRL would also like to thank the World Health Organization for their support of laboratory strengthening activities in Vietnam.
