WPRO Third Forum for WHO Collaborating Centres in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
In November 2018, NRL Director Dr Philippa Hetzel participated in the WPRO Third Forum for WHO Collaborating Centres which included a variety of field visits, country specific sessions and sessions relevant to each collaborating centre’s area of expertise. The forum provided the opportunity to learn, understand and share knowledge; and to establish new relationships with collaborating centre delegates from across the Western Pacific region while renewing friendships with WHO personnel and established WHO collaborating centre colleagues.
The work of the WHO depends on the support and expertise provided by its collaborating centres and the Forum agreed to:
-
Strengthen the co-ordination and information sharing between WHO and collaborating centres so that collaborating centres have a better understanding of country priorities and needs;
-
Work together to align collaborating centre activities to WHO country support plans in order to maximise the impact of WHO in-country support;
-
Further develop ways of working together, such as the establishment of networks at the country and regional level, in order to maximise knowledge and resource sharing and synergies;
-
Work together to report and share progress and good practice, and to better tell the story of the value of WHO and collaborating centre partnerships.
